Silverback Artist Management was started in 1996 when Jon Phillips took on the management duties of legendary musicians Sublime, who he both discovered and signed in 1993. In 1998, Jon joined forces with brother, Matt, and took on two bands who continued to move forward and carry the torch by leading the revolution in this fresh new sound/genre, Long Beach Dub All Stars and Slightly Stoopid. Today, Silverback continues to rep eight of the sickest rock artists around: Sublime, Slightly Stoopid, Pepper, Fishbone, The Beautiful Girls, Mat McHugh, Rebelution, and The Expendables. Controlled Substance Sound Labs, the label home to San Diegos dub-rockers Slightly Stoopids Stoopid Records and Hawaiian rockers Peppers Law Records, is quickly becoming one of music's best sources for today's independent alternative sounds.
Recent releases include: Slightly Stoopid's "Chronchitis," which includes their awesome hit single "2AM;" Stoopid's "Slightly Not Stoned Enough To Eat Breakfast Yet Stoopid" a compilation of out-takes and B-sides; Pepper's newest release, "Pink Crustaceans and Good Vibrations;" The Expendables' most recent release, their self-titled album, "The Expendables;" and Australia's famed The Beautiful Girls' North American release of their latest album, "Ziggurats."
